Carmen, Santa Barbara, California:
"I grew up in the Midwest to loving parents. Though they worked long hours, they tried hard to give us everything they didn't have as children. One of the things from childhood that has the sweetest memories for me is music. Piano, dancing, singing, flute and guitar were all in my life before age 8. I am a life coach, musician and educator now and I believe the thread of music throughout my life has brought much happiness and, when needed, solace. I share my joy of music with my students and friends through performance and/or teaching every day. I am grateful to my early exposure to the beauty of music and for this opportunity to share my story."

Ann, San Diego, California:
"My son hates homework. He argues 8 hours of school in a day is enough work. (He has a point!) Recently though, he was assigned the task of doing a biographical report on someone from history. He chose Thomas Edison. As he read the books we checked out from the library, and learned more about this phenomenal inventor, one important lesson stuck. Edison said, "Genius is 1 % inspiration, and 99% perspiration." My son has that saying on his wall now and realizes if he's going to become a great inventor one day, he needs to learn a lot and do his school work. Thank you Thomas Edison!"

Jen, South Dakota:
"I live in the midwest and summer vacations always start out fun, but then the kids get restless. What are other families doing this summer to inspire their kids? My husband can't always get off from work for long vacations, so if anyone has any inexpensive ideas, I'd love to hear them. "
